Outfielder Ron Woods was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent in 1961. Woods played six seasons in the major leagues with the Detroit Tigers (1969), New York Yankees (1969-71), and Montreal Expos (1971-74). He had 290 hits in 1,247 career at-bats and hit 26 career home runs, knocked in 130 runs and stole 27 bases. This lot features Woods’ 1970 New York Yankees game-worn home jersey.

The blue-pinstriped white flannel includes proper “Spalding” manufacturer’s tagging on the left front tail next to a sewn-on [size] 40 tag positioned just above a blue chain-stitched “70” to reflect the season in question. A washing instructions “DO NOT DRY CLEAN” tag is also on the left front tail with an attached flag tag reading “SET 1 #8P 1970.” The inside rear collar includes a cloth nameplate reading “Woods” in blue chain-stitched script. The Yankees iconic “NY” blue felt emblem measuring 5.5” tall adorns the left front breast area. On the reverse can be found Woods’ uniform number 9, also in blue felt, stretching 7.25” tall. The jersey shows moderate use with all seven original button down the front intact. Overall it is impeccably preserved with only slight puckering showing on the uniform number. Four manufactured air holes exist underneath each armpit. A vintage New York Yankees flannel is yours for the taking.
