Johnny Egan was wrapping up his 12-year NBA career when he donned this San Diego Rockets warmup suit in 1970-71. The Rockets were Egan’s the sixth club he played for and when he retired after the ’72 season he was hired as the team’s coach.

Egan’s green warmup jacket has “SAN DIEGO” running down the left front in yellow and white tackle twill. The neck and arm openings are trimmed with gold, green and white ribbings. The front is closed with five snap buttons that re fully functional. The back has six snap buttons where the nameplate would be affixed. A size “38” Rawlings label is sewn inside the front placket beside cleaning instructions and an illegible white strip tag. A tag inside the collar has been cut out of the lining. The jacket shows heavy use with some fading to the body and overall wear from repeated laundering.

The matching green pants have a size “34” Rawlings label is sewn inside the waistband beside cleaning instructions and a white strip tag marked with Egan's uniform number "21". 10 snap buttons and gold, green and white striping runs down each leg. The pants show heavy game use with overall fading and visible staining throughout.

This piece includes a letter of provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
