This lot features a 1969 full encapsulated and graded World Series ticket from game 4 at "Shea Stadium" in New York ( Mets 2 Orioles 1 ). The Mets' starting pitcher Tom Seaver would atone for his Game 1 ineffectiveness by shutting the Orioles out through eight innings. Once again Don Clendenon would homer in the second to provide the Mets with the lead. In the top on the ninth Seaver would run into trouble when Frank Robinson and Boog Powell hit back-to-back one out singles to put runners on the corners. Brooks Robinson then hit a sinking line drive that Mets right fielder Ron Swoboda dove for and caught just inches above the ground.Robinson Tagged and scored , but Swoboda's heroics kept the orioles from possibly taking the lead. The next batter would fly out to end the inning. Jerry Grote would lead off the bottom of the tenth with a bloop double pinch hitter J.C. Martin would be hit on the wrist after laying down a sacrifice bunt on his way to first , which would allow pinch runner Rod Gaspar to score and win the game for the Mets. This ticket is signed in blue ink by Tom Seaver the winning pitcher, the ticket is graded VG-EX 4 and the autograph is certified by DNA.
