Featured in this lot is a PSA NM-MT 8 graded full ticket from Game 5 of the 1969 World Series played at Shea Stadium. The "Miracle Mets" clinched their first world championship with a 5-3 victory over the Orioles. This would be the second time in the same year a New York sports team would upset a heavily favored Baltimore team (Jets over Colts in Super Bowl III). The Mets would become the first expansion team to win a division title, pennant and World Series, winning in just their eighth year of existence. Despite never finishing above .500 in their entire history, the Mets -- led by ace Tom Seaver and fellow starter Jerry Koosman along with outfielders Cleon Jones and Tommy Agee -- finished with an unbelievable 100-62 record to overcome the Cubs for the NL pennant despite starting off 18-23.
The PSA NM-MT 8 grade makes this the highest rated full and one of only two examples in the PSA pop report. According to the PSA registry, this "$15.00 FIELD LEVEL BOX" ticket from Box "10A" and Seat "0" is not classified as a "proof" ticket. We will defer to PSA on proper classification.
