Don Drysdale, the daunting L.A. Dodgers right-handed flame thrower, closed out his 14-year MLB career in 1969 with 209 career wins. Remarkably, the 6’ 5” Drysdale pitched 167 career complete games including 40 shutouts. Drysdale was the workhorse of the legendary 1960’s Dodgers staff, a cadre of fireballers that propelled the newly transplanted team to three World Series titles in seven years and solidified a spot in Cooperstown for the imposing right-hander. Featured here is Drysdale’s signed and game-worn Dodgers road jersey from his final season. The size 46 Rawlings gray flannel road jersey is lettered "Dodgers" across the front and features the number "53" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and the reverse number are appliquéd in blue felt; the front number is appliquéd in red felt. Both the name, "Drysdale," and the year, "69," are chain-stitched in blue on the left front tail. Also located on the left front tail are a "Rawlings 46" label. A wash tag and an adjacent flag tag reading, "Set 1 1969," appear on the exterior front tail. The jersey includes the MLB “100th Anniversary” patch on the left shoulder, donned by teams league-wide exclusively during the 1969 season. The jersey is all original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear throughout. Drysdale has signed and personalized the jersey on the front right chest: “To Bob – My Best Wishes, Don Drysdale.” Signature in black fine-point marker rates 9/10.

LOA from MEARS (Graded A10).
