Max Carey was a major league baseball center fielder and manager. Carey most notably played for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1910 through 1926, helping them win the 1925 World Series. During his 20-year career, he led the league in stolen bases ten times and finished with 738 steals, a National League record until 1974 and still ranks 9th among the all-time leaders in major league history! Ponder that?

After his playing days Carey managed the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1932 and 1933. Carey was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1961.

Obviously Carey was a crafty player and was resourceful enough to turn his baseball knowledge into a business. Later in life he shared his wisdom from his life on the diamond through his instructional book on playing ball properly and living right.

Here we have an eclectic collection of Carey's marketing arsenal for his 1966 BASEBALL SECRETS book, the order form (signed by Carey) to buy it, and two period business cards (both signed by Carey) complete with outstanding pointers from the baseball legend to the "Youth of America." Beckett COA's accompany the signed pieces.

What a perfect treasure for a Pirates, Dodgers or baseball historian, with Hall of Famer Max Carey paying it forward!
