Infielder Jerry Buchek was a seven-year MB veteran who played his first five seasons (1961, 1963 to ’66) with the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1964, Buchek appeared in 35 games for the Redbirds and collected six hits in 30 at-bats. This also happened to be the season the Cardinals marched all the way to the World Series and defeated the American League Champion New York Yankees in seven games. Buchek saw action in four of the World Series games and managed to get a single at-bat in which he singled and scored a run. This lot features Buchek’s 1964 autographed and game-worn St. Louis Cardinals home uniform.

The jersey shows moderate game use and all the markings of its era: a Size 40 red Rawlings tag appears on the front-left tail directly above the cursive embroidery "Buchek 64" in red stitching. The red felt numbers for Buchek’s “11” are on the front and back in red felt outlined in navy blue and his block-lettered last name “BUCHEK” on the reverse shows some slight fraying and puckering. The iconic Cardinals chenille script name and “birds on bat” logo stretches across the jersey front. Buchek has autographed the front of the jersey in black marker and added the inscription: “My 1964 World Series Jersey #11.” The pants are no less impressive, showing even more noticeable game use, with "Buchek 64 32 23ins" in cursive red stitching along the back of the waistband. On the front of the waistband is the Rawlings Size 34, an adjacent tag with washing instructions and a flag tag reading “SET 1 1964.” The original Cardinals red belt is also included with the pants. Red piping runs the length of either pant leg. All pieces are original and unaltered.

Part of the esteemed Delbert Mickel estate collection. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
