In the 1962 NBA Draft, Zelmo Beaty was selected with the 3rd overall pick by the St. Louis Hawks, as the Hawks looked to improve their record for the next season. With his big and tall stature, standing at 6’9” and weighing in at 225, he was able to gain All-Rookie First Team honors as the best Center in his rookie class. The next year, Beaty needed a new contract to continue playing in the NBA. The Hawks and Beaty were both in agreement to stay on good terms. Offered here is Zelmo Beaty’s 1963 Uniform Player Contract with the St. Louis Hawks. The official document is signed by the President of the team and Zelmo himself on the final page. The team agreed to pay Beaty a total of $12,000 for his services over the next season. The contract agreement established on July 8th, 1963 is still in excellent condition. The late Zelmo Beaty earned All-Star honors five times (2x NBA & 3x ABA) during his career and was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2016. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
