Bursting onto the scene part way into the 1959 season, the 27 year old shortstop energized the 1959 Dodgers and was a key part of their drive to the first Los Angeles World Series Championship. Single handedly he would bring the stolen base back into prominence, leading the National League in that category the next 6 years and setting a then record of 104 steals in 1962. A key member of 3 Los Angeles World Championship teams, he will always be remembered as an exciting player and a Dodger fan favorite.
