In 1961, the New York Yankees not only won their 26th American League pennant by going 109-53, eight games ahead of the seconds-place Detroit Tigers, but they earned the team’s 19th World Series title as well. It was also the season when right fielder Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth’s longstanding single-season home run record of 60 by launching his 61st home run on the final day of the regular season. For good measure, Mickey Mantle added 54 for the Bronx Bombers while Bill “Moose” Skowron hit 28 round-trippers. This lot includes a commemorative 16” x 20” photo celebrating 14 members of the ’61 World Series Champion Yankees that has been signed by each one of them in fine-point blue marker: Tony Kubek, Johnny Blanchard, Joe DeMaestri, Clete Boyer, Jack Reed, Hector Lopez, Moose Skowron, Bobby Richardson, Bill Gardner, Bud Daily, Bob Turley, Art Ditmar, Ralph Terry and Ryne Duren. It also includes a team-signed baseball from the ’61 Yankees with 19 signatures on it. Different colored blue pens were used in acquiring all of the signatures on it, the most notable ones being Mickey Mantle (sweet spot), White Ford (World Series MVP), Bill Skowron, Ralph Terry, Bob Turley, Johnny Blanchard and Tony Kubek. The signatures are all pretty strong and would rate 7-8/10. A couple of memorable pieces of sports memorabilia from an unforgettable year in Yankees’ postseason history.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Skowron Family.
