The 1961-62 Fleer Basketball set is known for including the first mainstream basketball cards of many of basketball all-time greats such as Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson and Jerry West.
There are also countless other Hall of Famers in their early or rookie cards such as Cousy, Gola, Greer, Heinsohn, Sam Jones, Pettit, Russell, Twyman, Wilkens, etc.
The 1961-62 set was the only major basketball product produced by Fleer until their second ground-breaking release 25 years later in 1986-87.
The 1961-62 Fleer set featured cards of 44 different players and consisted of 66 cards in total. Cards 44-66 were action shots of players also pictured on "regular" cards in the set.
