Since the turn of the century, no company has been more intertwined with Major League Baseball than Louisville Slugger. The company’s bats were used by the majority of players in the game, including the best stars who had their own personal models that carried their own stamped signature on the barrel. Early on, Louisville Slugger used the prized star endorsements to market bats to the general public. By the 1960s when this ad was produced, it was almost mandatory that every Little League player swung a replica bat of their favorite player. This advertising display of the company’s Little League model bats features all the contemporary greats of the game including Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Tony Oliva, Al Kaline, Eddie Mathews, and Harmon Killebrew. Besides the portrait of each star, his signature model bat is shown alongside an oval in which the distributer was to write the pricing. Measuring 24 x 37, the display poster shows some edge wear and overall toning from age and use. The colors remain clean and bright and are embellished by the professional matting and frame with protective UV glass. We have seen no other examples of this unique piece and it presents in Near Mint to Mint condition. To read an article about this collection from Sports Collectors Daily, click here.
