1960 marked the first time Duke’s men’s basketball team won their first Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. Duke had gone 17-11 under coach Vic Bubas and went on to defeat Wake Forest in the ACC Championship in Raleigh, NC. After the game, Duke’s guard John Cantwell received this tournament trophy along with a piece of the net from the championship game. The trophy measures xx” tall and features a gold colored player preparing to make a shot. The black base has a golden plate engraved with “CHAMPIONS 1960 DUKE JOHN CANTWELL” along with a raised Atlantic Coast Conference logo. The trophy shows some wear from age and displays wonderfully. The piece of net displays toning from age. This extraordinary lot is accompanied by a framed photo of the championship 1960 Duke team, signed by Head Coach Vic Bubas, and an LOA from John Cantwell.
