In 1955 the Brooklyn Dodgers not only won the National League pennant, but 'Dem Bums finally went on to beat their crosstown pinstriped rivals from the Bronx in the World Series. It was one of the more memorable seasons in baseball history, with the "Boys of Summer" winning an epic Fall Classic and capturing the hearts of baseball lovers everywhere.
Presented here is a full proof ticket from Game 5 played at Ebbetts Field. Proofs, while not valied for admission, make for great collectibles. This one is actually a "finished proof" ticket, meaning it has been hole punched/canceled. It conjures up memories of those epic battles when Jackie, Campy, Pee Wee, Snider, Gil and company took on The Mick, Yogi, Rizzuto and Whitey on the hallowed grounds of Ebbets Field. In Game Five, it was the Duke of Flatbush who played hero by belting two homers off Yanks starter Bob Grim and leading Brooklyn to a 5-3 win. 'Dem Bums went ahead in the series and would finally dethrone those damn Yankees in seven.
Encapsulated with an "Authentic" designation, it's the only such "finished proof" example in the PSA pop report.
