Former USC Trojans tailback Aramis Dandoy died in 1992 at the age of 59, but he remains in the Rose Bowl record books. He returned a punt 86 yards for a touchdown against Ohio State in 1955. It was a remarkable run in the rain and mud. However, the Buckeyes won, 20-7. This lot includes the speedy tailback’s game-worn USC jersey that he wore during the 1954 season and the 1955 Rose Bowl game. The burgundy durene jersey includes his sewn-on No. 27 in gold on both the front and back and shows ample game wear with multiple team repairs (stitches) evident. Aramis signed the jersey – with crotch flap intact – in black marker across the “7” on the front of the jersey and added “Rose Bowl 1955.” Despite its age, the signature has held up remarkably well. While the angle is not great, the attached black and white photo (Corbis U1076772) from the 1955 Rose Bowl shows Dandoy wearing what appears to be the same jersey.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum as well as a Letter of Authenticity from USC.

Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
