It took an extra special Brooklyn Dodgers team to finally beat the Yankees in the 1955 World Series. The ’55 Yanks were a team in transition, with younger stars such as Mickey Mantle and Elston Howard joining experienced veterans like Yogi Berra and Enos Slaughter to win 96 games and beat out Cleveland by three games for the American League pennant. The Yanks and Dodgers took the World Series to the full seven games before Johnny Podres shutout New York to give 'Dem Bums their first and only World Championship in Brooklyn. The Yankees would retool and return to the postseason the following year, beating the Dodgers in the Fall Classic to cap Jackie Robinson's final season.

31 members of the A.L. champs have signed this Official American League (Harridge) baseball including Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Casey Stengel, Enos Slaughter and Phil Rizzuto, plus standouts Jim Konstanty, Eddie Lopat, Don Larsen, Hank Bauer and Elston Howard. The ball shows surface scuffs and some staining and chipping to the surface. Some of the signatures are on the lighter side but remain clearly legible. Manager Casey Stengel on the sweet spot has been deemed "Clubhouse" in the full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
