Marv Goux was an undersized linebacker for the USC Trojans during the mid-1950s. He was a three-year starter (1952, 1954-55). Known as "Mr. Trojan," he played in two Rose Bowls and helped guide the team to five national championships during his time as a USC assistant to head coaches John McKay and John Robinson before finishing his coaching career with the Los Angeles Rams. This lot includes Goux’s autographed and game-worn USC Trojans No. 52 dureen jersey from the 1955 college season. The Sand Knit manufactured size 48 jersey includes all proper tagging and shows outstanding game wear with mud, dirt and grass stains throughout and noticeable fraying of the burgundy “52” tackle twill numbers on the front and back. The gamer includes the original built-in crotch flap, which is where the manufacturer’s tagging resides. Just above the Sand Knit tag is another tag that reads: “Fredericks and Co. ‘It Pays to Play’ Los Angeles.” Goux, who passed away in 2002, also signed the front of the jersey in black marker with the added inscription: “Fight On! 1952-1982,” indicating the years he was associated with the team, either as a player or coach.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
