Here is a great early bat of the "Mick". The offered Hillerich & Bradsby K55 signature model bat (32.1oz/35) was used by The Commerce Comet during the 1953 season, his third in the Major Leagues. As was the case throughout Mantle's career, only bumps and bruises could curtail his otherwise impressive numbers in 1953. Limited to 127 games, Mantle still managed 21 round-trippers, 92 RBI and a .295 batting mark, warranting MVP consideration (he finished 22nd in the balloting). Continuing where DiMaggio-led teams left off, Mantle helped the Yanks to an unprecedented fifth consecutive World Series title in 1953. Assisting in the administration of some of the damage that season, this high-grade ash example features a detailed and defined centerbrand and barrel stampings and exhibits telling evidence of medium to heavy use in the form of ball, cleat and bat-rack marks throughout. This uncracked weapon employed by Mantle has grain swelling and checking on the hitting surface. Hillerich & Bradsby factory shipping records date this Yankee prize specifically to 1953. Graded 7 by PSA/DNA- John Taube. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from PSA/DNA.
