The 1953 Rose Bowl was played on January 1, 1953 at the end of the 1952 college football season. It marked the 39th Rose Bowl Game ever. It was the University of Wisconsin's first bowl game and the first Rose Bowl appearance for the USC Trojans since 1948. It was also the first meeting between the two football programs. In the end, USC defeated Wisconsin, 7–0, and the margin of victory occurred as the result of USC quarterback Rudy Bukich connecting on a 28-yard pass play to USC teammate Al Carmichael in the third quarter. Bukich was named the Rose Bowl "Player of the Game." This lot includes two items: 1.) USC’s Pacific Coast Conference Champions/Rose Bowl Champs team-signed football and an oversized (17.5” wide x 15.5” high), laminated plaque that shows the winning pass play from Bukich to Carmichael. The “Rose Bowl Champs” branded white football includes the score of the game as well as the year: “SC -7 WIS-0 1953.” A total of 50 signatures in black ink adorn two panels on the football including the autograph of 1953 “Miss America” Neva Langley, who rode the grand prize most-beautiful float by a commercial firm, called "America the Beautiful,” in the January 1, 1953, Tournament of Roses Parade that weekend. Top signatures on the football include: Bukich, Carmichael, Leon Sellers, Jim Sears, Mickey Artenian, Jim Psaitis, Sam Tsagalakis, Tom Nickoloff and head coach Jess Hill. Signatures rate 8-9/10.

Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
