The late Sam Mele was a right fielder and first baseman who packed occasional power at the plate during his 10-year MLB career. He played for six different MLB teams during his big league tenure including a pair of seasons (1952 and ’53) with the Chicago White Sox. Offered here is Mele’s 1952 Chicago White Sox signed and game worn road jersey from a season in which he hit 14 round-trippers for the Chisox in limited (112 games) duty.

The gray flannel zip-front pullover jersey features “CHICAGO” arched across the front in black-on-red felt lettering with Mele’s uniform number “14” sewn to the back of the jersey in like fashion. Situated on the left front tail is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s label and washing instructions tag accompanied by a [size] “46” flag tag and “1952” chain stitched in black just below it. On the inside rear collar is a strip tag reading “Mele” chain stitched in black script and just below that is Mele’s blue-marker signature that remains in 8-9/10 autograph grading. The pristine condition jersey reveals evidence of moderate wear and shows no signs of repair or alteration in any fashion.

Includes LOA from MEARS (A9.5). Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
