Rare 1952 Detroit Lions NFL Championship ring. The 20th annual NFL Championship game was held on December 28, 1952 at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio. The Detroit Lions defeated the Cleveland Browns 17-7 before a crowd of 50,934. The Detroit Lions had finished the 1952 season tied with the Los Angeles Rams for the National Conference title with a record of 9-3. The Lions then defeated the Rams 31-21 in a playoff game in Detroit on December 21 to go to the title game. The Lions, in their first appearance in the title game since 1935, were led by quarterback Bobby Layne and running back Doak Walker. Top of ring has football with a real diamond in center surrounded by the words "1952 World Champions". There is no name inscribed on the inside band. The information the consignor had was that the ring originated years ago from a team owner's family member but we cannot confirm this fact. Size 11 1/2 ring has "Josten 14K" stamped on the inside. Outstanding NM-MT/MINT condition.
