Postmarked from St. Louis on 8/25/51 to a Jack Partlow of Orlando Fla., this 3-1/4" by 5-1/2" government postcard dates from Paige's first season with the St. Louis Browns. After dominating for two decades in the Negro Leagues Paige joined the Cleveland Indians in 1948 at the age of 42 and pitched five very productive
MLB seasons, culminating in two All-Star nods with the Browns in 1952 and '53. He even came out of
retirement in 1965 to start a game for the Kansas City A's at age 59, shattering the record for the oldest to ever appear in a Major
League game by nine years. The black ink signature rates 10/10 and is not affected by surrounding cancellation marks and a tape stain at bottom center. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA as Authentic.
