At the end of the 1951 season Joe DiMaggio turned his back on the highest salary in sports and left the game on his own terms. His legend firmly established DiMaggio handed the reigns to a promising young centerfielder named Mickey Mantle who made his debut in pinstripes that same year. Their time together with the Yankees was brief but successful culminating in a World Series victory over the Giants. This OAL (Harridge) ball features a total of 28 signatures including Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio, Casey Stengel, Yogi Berra, Bill Dickey and Johnny Mize. Others include Billy Martin, Frank Crosetti, Vic Raschi, Joe Collins, Allie Reynolds, Jim Turner, Jerry Coleman, Spec Shea, Ralph Houk, Tom Morgan, Gil McDougald, Johnny Hopp, Bobby Brown, Stubby Overmire, Bobby Hogue, Ed Lopat, Art Schallock, Hank Bauer, Joe Ostrowski, Charlie Silvera, Bob Kuzava, Gene Woodling, and Tommy Henrich. There are zero clubhouse signatures; however, Mantle is absent. The medium toned ball is in EX-MT condition overall with signatures averaging in the 6/10 range with DiMaggio rating about 4/10. "NY Yankees Champs 1951" was written in an unknown hand on the stamping area. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
