This outstanding team photo of the 1951 New York Yankees has several critical features, not the least of which is its impressive 12" by 20" dimensions. The presentation of white-script facsimile signatures supply an attractive design element, but without the cost-prohibitive expense of real autographs. The soon to be retired Joe DiMaggio stands second from the right in the top row of the image, while his rookie protégé Mickey Mantle is fifth from the right in the second row. Casey Stengel, Bill Dickey, Yogi Berra, and Johnny Mize are also featured. The Liberty Flashlight Co. photo demonstrates wonderful image focus and razor-sharp edges and corners, with slight peripheral handling wear in the form of occasional small wrinkles mostly at the edges. Large team photographs such as this were produced every year by the ballclub primarily for players and team personnel only and not made available to the general public.
