The featured letter from Mickey to Merlyn Mantle comes on Yankees Stationery with the original signed mailing envelope. Handwritten and filling  two sheets of "New York Yankees" stationery the letter comes with the June 18, 1951 postmarked original envelope. Mantle had made his Major League debut two months prior to this correspondence and despite a solid start he had entered a slump which would famously send him back to the Minor Leagues for a short stint. A portion of the letter reads, "Dearest Merlyn...I sure was glad to hear from you...I have been really lonesome for you since I got back...I had Allie Reynolds to order me a Catalina Pontiac...maybe I'll have it shipped to you + you can break it in...I do a lot better when you are at the games because I know when the game is over I'll get to see you...All my Love, Mick." Handwriting and signature rate 8/9 out of 10 and there are typical mailing folds and some light general wear. The return address on the envelope has been signed "Mick Mantle.” Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the Mantle Family and a full LOA from JSA.
