Throughout the 1950s and 60s Red Sox legend Ted Williams lent his endorsement to the New England soft drink Moxie. In this die-cut advertising display, Williams smiles as he points directly at the viewer, mimicking the brands original “Moxie Man” ads. Ted is shown in his Red Sox home uniform standing behind a stadium gate. An oversized baseball carries the slogan, “Ted Williams Says: Drink Moxie.” Though simple in composition and elements, the combination of color and Williams’ dynamic pose combine to make this one of the most attractive baseball advertising pieces in the hobby. Measuring 11 ¾” x 14 ½”, this display shows some wear and chipping to the edges and light toning throughout. The tasteful professional matt and frame serve to bring out the strong colors of this magnificent display. The image presents in Near Mint condition and is the finished product of the three piece sign shown earlier in lot 286.
