The verso reads "FORD FRICK, PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL LEAGUE, PRESENTES JACKIE ROBINSON, STAR SECOND BASEMAN OF THE BROOKLYN DODGERS, WITH THE GOLD PLAQUE SYMBOLIZING HIS CHOICE AS THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE DURING 1949. THE PRESENTATION WAS MADE BEFORE THE DODGERS NIGHT GAME WITH THE BRAVES AT EBBETS FIELD, JULY 6. JACKIE, INJURED IN A GAME WITH THE GIANTS, DID NOT START."
