1949 Kansas City Monarchs Uniform Player's Contract signed by Melvin Duncan to play for the Kansas City Monarchs for $300 per month. Duncan has signed the contract in great looking 8-9/10 blue ball point pen. T. Y. Baird, President of the Monarchs has also signed. Duncan was a right handed pitcher who played in the Negro Leagues from 1949 through 1951 with Kansas City and in 1955 with both the Monarchs and Detroit Stars. In 1950 he threw a no-hitter. Contract has the usual folds but has separated on one side 100% at one fold and about 50% on the other. The other side has about 1 inch of separation at each fold. A few small tears at the spine. Negro League contracts are indeed rare and those from the storied Monarchs franchise are arguably the most desirable. This seldom seen example is a beauty.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
