Presented here is a vintage 1949 Jackie Robinson National League Most Valuable Player trophy from his most iconic season as a Major League ballplayer. The Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Famer led the league with a .342 batting average and an impressive 37 stolen bases. This award is an exact duplicate of the actual award given to Jackie during the 1949 MVP ceremony. The black wood base of the award measures 16" in diameter and is mounted with a metal octagon. The plaque reads "Kenesaw Mountain Landis Memorial Baseball Award" surrounding a baseball diamond. Atop reads "Most Valuable Player, National League, Brooklyn Dodgers" along with "Jack R. Robinson" on a bronze plaque. A 1" bronze baseball with crossed bats engraved "1949" and a 1/4" green and white logo pin of the BBWAA is also affixed to the plaque. The plaque remains in excellent condition with minor wear. The original issued to Jackie was made by Dieges & Clust. Shortly thereafter a small handful of these replicas were produced to honor what is widely considered the most important MVP Award in MLB history.
