Yankee catcher Bill Dickey came up in 1928, and ran the pitching staff during the latter half of the Gehrig/Ruth era. Dickey proved a consummate competitor, sparring with the opposition while calming the often brilliant but erratic Lefty Gomez, and anchoring the second Murderer's Row, knocking in more than 100 RBI's a year from 1936-1939 as the Yankees won four straight world championships. His leadership skills extended into a coaching position with the Yankees, which included significant mentoring of his successor, Yogi Berra. This 1949 contract for Dickey’s services as a coach for the Yankees is signed by Dickey, as well as AL president Harridge and Yankees Vice President George Weiss. The contract is displayed elaborately with a hinged frame within a larger frame that also displays an outstanding vintage photo signed by Dickey and a descriptive plaque. The signatures remain quite bold with the contract in apparent Excellent condition overall with typical fold lines. Display measures 29” by 22” overall. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
