Highly unusual 7 1/2-inch in diameter embroidered National Champions 1948 patch commemorating the University of Kentucky's win over Baylor to claim the title. The patch is in wonderful condition, presenting nearly Nr-Mt, save only for a tiny nick that appears on the yellow basketball with a loss of some of the embroidery surface. The patch is attractively presented in an impressive 10-by-12-inch wooden shadow box with plexiglass cover, gold nameplate denoting "University of Kentucky Nationals Champions 1948 NCAA Basketball" and elaborate gold latches. This could possibly be a member of Kentucky's famous (Fab 5) who went on to win the gold medal at the 1948 Olympic games in London. This group would also repeat as National Champions the following year under the direction of legendary coach, Adolph Rupp.
