Addendum: Based on the "1947 World Champs" notation, this ball should still be considered a 1947 team ball. All but two signatures were members of the Yankees organization during their '47 World Series season.

The 1947 Yankees went 97-57 to win the AL pennant and face the Brooklyn Dodgers in a memorable Fall Classic. It took seven games, but the Yanks were able to spoil Jackie Robinson's groundbreaking rookie season and win their third World Series of the decade. The following year, skipper Bucky Harris' Bronx boys went 94-60 to finish in third place. The years to follow would prove historic for the franchise as they went on to win five championships in succession, a streak that likely will never be matched. This lot features a New York Yankees team-signed baseball with an inscription that reads, "1947 World Champs New York Yankees," over the OAL (Harridge) label.

The well-conditioned ball with even and very slight off-white toning boasts 31 autographs with a gorgeous 7-8/10 Joe DiMaggio on the sweet spot. Fellow Hall of Famers Larry "Yogi" Berra and Phil Rizzuto are included as well as Tommy Byrne, Charlie Keller, Bobby Brown, Vic Raschi, Ralph Houk, George Stirnweiss, Allie Reynolds, Frank Crosetti, Johnny Lindell, George McQuinn, Spec Shea, Billy Johnson, Sherm Lollar, Cliff Mapes, Frank Hiller, Gus Nairhos, Bob Porterfield, Bud Southchock and Chuck Dressen (coach). Ed Lopat and Red Embree, who were part of the '48 squad but played for different teams in '47 have also signed. Autographs range 5-8/10 mostly in blue ink. The following are deemed clubhouse: Hank Bauer, Bucky Harris, Red Corriden and Joe Page. The notation is done in unknown hand. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (AG06005).
