The 1939 USC Trojans football team won the National Championship that season with a record of 8-0-2 (5-0-2 in the Pacific Coast Conference). The team was coached by the legendary Howard H. Jones. This lot includes an aged Rawlings leather football that’s been signed in green ink by 39 members of the championship team. It includes a special inscription that reads: “Presented to my friend, Carl Draper, a loyal Trojan fan, Christmas 1953.” The signature following the inscription looks like “Les Evart.” Several of the signatures are legible but many are not based on the deterioration of the sun-damaged football. Also included in the lot is an 8” x 10” black-and-white photo of USC’s Al Krueger catching the game-winning touchdown pass from QB Doyle Nave in the 1939 Rose Bowl in which the Trojans prevailed, 7-3, over Duke.

Includes Letter of Provenance from Newport Sports Museum.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
