Babe Ruth may have retired a few short years before this sign was displayed in stores in 1939, but he had smoothly transitioned to being a living legend in his post-career life. In fact, that was the same year he spoke at Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day at Yankee Stadium. The Sultan of Swat promotes Red Rock Cola on this incredibly clean example of a die-cut advertising sign. The Babe appears in the middle of a baseball with his name above him and a slogan "IT'S THE FINEST COLA DRINK I EVER TASTED" beneath his grinning visage. A bottle of Red Rock Cola appears beneath him with the astoundingly low price of five cents. Other than a few holes in the edges of the sign from when it was displayed over 80 years ago, the sign has withstood the test of time incredibly well and is in near mint condition. This sign is frequently reproduced as a metal sign but this is the rare original version. We have not seen another original in this fine condition previously offered at auction.
