The offered 8” x 10” photograph captures Babe Ruth packing his travel trunk with some of his old equipment in preparation for his trip to Hollywood to appear as himself in the 1942 film “Pride of the Yankees.”. The image displays flawless clarity, and one can clearly see vivid details such as the H&B labeling on the Babe Ruth signature model bat leaning against the trunk. The reverse shows a COSMO-SILEO CO. stamp and original paper caption. “Pride of the Yankees” pulls the heart strings as one of the most realistic depictions of true American hero, Lou Gehrig, and the game in which he so thoroughly excelled. In addition to casting Gary Cooper to play the former Yankee great, screen magnate Samuel Goldwyn employed Babe Ruth and other actual baseball scribes to portray themselves, thus assuring authenticity in the baseball scenes. EX condition. LOA from PSA/DNA (Type 1).
