Offered here is a stunning 1936 PSA/DNA Type I ACME News Picture original wire photo of the 1936 World Champion New York Yankees. In the World Series that year, the Yankees defeated the crosstown rival New York Giants, four games to two. Crystal clear black-and-white photo image with all player's faces very identifiable including Manager Joe McCarthy, Tony Lazzeri, Lou Gehrig, Charlie Ruffing, a rookie named Joe DiMaggio and all the rest are captured in this moment. The paper caption attached to the back of the photo measures 6.5” wide by five inches high and identifies all the players. It is stamped “CREDIT LINE (ACME) 9/22/36,” which is likely when the photo was taken, and has a second red stamp reading “OCT. 12, 1936,” which is when the photo was published. The photo is in excellent condition with two small thumbtack marks on the lower border. Photo size is seven inches wide by nine inches high.
It is slabbed inside a PSA/DNA Type I holder (1PO1008). This is an outstanding photo of one of baseball’s most celebrated teams in baseball history!
