Baseball legend Joe DiMaggio made his Yankees debut in 1936, and what a rookie campaign it was! Batting .323 with 29 HR, 125 RBI, 132 runs, 44 doubles and an AL-leading 15 triples, the young centerfielder was an instant superstar. It certainly helped that he hit ahead of AL MVP Lou Gehrig in the lineup, who continued to put up monster numbers. In one May contest, Tony Lazzeri hit two grand slams in the same game! The Yanks won 102 games and this time snagged the pennant from the Detroit Tigers before taking care of the cross-town Giants in the Fall Classic to start their incredible streak of four straight titles.

This fine OAL (Harridge) ball holds 24 signatures including Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig (6/10) on the sweet spot, a nice Joe DiMaggio (6-7/10) on the east panel, Lefty Gomez, Bill Dickey, Earle Combs, Red Ruffing and Tony Lazzeri. Other notables include Frank Crosetti, Geo. Selkirk, Johnny Murphy, Bump Hadley, Red Rolfe, Monte Pearson, Joe Glenn, Art Jorgens, Broaca, Roy Johnson, Powell, Jumbo Brown, Malone, Saltzgaver, Kemp Wicker (twice), etc. Ball appears to have light coat of shellac and is medium-toned with a few scuff marks. Blue manufacturing stamps from Reach all remain sharp and clear. Autographs average 6/10 in black ink. No clubhouse signatures to speak of on this important post-Ruth Yankees ball. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (AG03992).
