Offered here is one of the earliest and only photos of Vince Lombardi during his college career at Fordham University. Though only 5’-8” and 180 pounds, Lombardi’s aggressive style of play more than made up for his small size. This photo was snapped in 1935 when Lombardi was a junior at Fordham. The next season Lombardi was the right guard on university’s feared “Seven Blocks of Granite” offensive front line. After graduation, Lombardi would be a journeyman coach at various institution before making the NFL in 1954 as the New York Giants offensive coordinator. In 1959 he would move to Green Bay as head coach and the rest is history.

The 1935 dated photo measurs 6" x 8" and shows nice toning from age. The corners and edges are slightly rounded and there is some surface scuffing visible, most noticeably below Lombardi’s left arm. There are some creases located in the top left quadrant and inside the left border. The back of the photo several collection stamps as well as the original Acme caption slug and “Oct 18, 1935” date stamps. A very attractive and very rare photo of the legendary coach in his college days. Authenticated and encapsulated Type I by PSA/DNA.
