Rare program to the 1934 National Football League Championship Game, known as The Sneakers Game, played at the Polo Grounds in New York City on December 9, 1934. This was the 2nd scheduled NFL championship game. The game pitted the Western Champion and defending NFL Champion Chicago Bears(13–0) against the Eastern Champion New York Giants(8–5). The night before the game a freezing rain froze the Polo Grounds field. After player Ray Flaherty suggested to head coach Steve Owen that the Giants would be better off wearing sneakers on the frozen turf instead of cleat, the team went out in search of basketball sneakers. After half time, with the Bears leading 10-3, New York switched to the sneakers and it was all over. The Giants outscored the Bears 27–0 in the fourth quarter in route to a 30–13 victory. 8 page program itself in nice, medium condition with some light creases here and there. and a small tear at the lower staple. Program features a Giants team photo, rosters for both teams, league standings, NFL rules, and several period ads. Program has been scored in pencil on the center page with some pencil game notes also present. Another early NFL Championship program in very presentable condition!
