Offered is one of the most iconic and recognizable images of the sultan of swat, wearing his iconic Yankees pinstripes with his elegant, yet monstrous swing that made him one of the most famous and beloved superstars in American history. This breathtaking image of Ruth is featured on this R309-1 Goudey Premium and dates to Ruth's final season with the Bronx bombers. These premiums are highly desirable and originally were offered by Goudey in exchange for fifty wrappers from their 1933 series with an advertised expiration date of Nov. 1, 1933. Ruth's copy was the first premium offered as such, along with three more team premiums but he remained the lone single player in the offering. Spending 50-cents on baseball cards back in the early 1930's was a feat as each one-cent pack/wrapper, the 50-cent cost in 1933 comes out to 11.39 in 2022 dollars.

Graded PSA FR 1.5, this is a pop of six with only 16 graded higher. Our offered premium exhibits some edge wear and creasing along the corners but the overall aesthetic beauty of Ruth's fluid swing is not detracted at all. There is also a crease in the lower left quadrant and another one just above the mid section on the left side of the premium. Again, none of these detract from the overall image. The easel on the verso is still fully intact which would have put Ruth on display on some lucky kid's nightstand. Overall an outstanding example considering the 1.5 PSA assessment.
