Fresh from their dramatic and contentious World Series victory in Chicago that saw Babe call his shot, the Yankees assembled in St. Petersburg, Florida for Spring training to prepare for another title run in 1933. This sepia toned 6 1/2" by 15" matted and framed image features the team posed outdoors in their road uniforms. The image exhibits very strong clarity and contrast with players including Ruth, Gehrig, McCarthy, Pennock, Lazzeri, and Dickey posing dutifully. At the bottom right corner is a signature by photographer Thorne. The bottom center area of the photo has a small repair to a hole and some light inpainting to a vertical center crease. Yankee panoramic images from the Ruth/Gehrig era are exceedingly rare and this one is a true gem. EX-MT appearance (with note to restoration). Matted and framed to overall dimensions of 11.5” by 20".
