Carl Hubbell was called the “Meal Ticket” because the Giants were guaranteed to win when he was on the mound. The year his Goudey card was issued, 1933, stands out as one of the finest of his career. During the regular season, Hubbell set a record with 46 consecutive scoreless innings. He finished up by leading the league with 23 wins, 10 shutouts and a 1.66 ERA as he took home the NL MVP Award. Then, in the World Series against the Senators, Hubbell won two games as the Giants claimed the World Championship. This example of his 1933 Goudey card has 60/40 top to bottom and side to side centering with eye-catchingly bright colors, rating a PSA NM 7.
