Better known by his nicknames “Lefty” or “Goofy,” the Yankees Hall of Famer was not only one of the game’s best pitchers, but one of the most humorous. Famous Lefty Gomez quips include “I don’t know how far it went, but it takes forty-five minutes to walk up there” and “I'm throwing as hard as I ever did, but the ball is just not getting there as fast.” Jokes aside, Gomez was one of the best pitchers of the 1930s, winning 189 games and two pitching Triple Crowns as the Yankees claimed five World Championships. This 1933 Goudey card has crisp borders and a clean back and has been graded a PSA NM 7
