Jimmie Foxx was the power behind the 1929-1931 Philadelphia Athletics. This club, often called the greatest baseball dynasty of all-time, won three consecutive pennants and back-to-back World Championships. As Babe Ruth’s career came to an end, it was Jimmie Foxx who took up his title of Home Run King. Foxx hit 30 or more homers for 12 consecutive seasons and was just the second player in history to reach the 500-career home run mark. Called “The Beast” because of his muscular physique, Foxx’s best season may have been 1933, the year this Goudey card was issued. During that summer, Foxx hit .356 with 48 homers and 163 RBI for the Triple Crown as he won his second consecutive MVP Award. This example of his 1933 Goudey card grades a fantastic PSA NM 7. The borders are clean, the corners sharp and the centering is about 45/55 side to side and bottom to top. A near-perfect example of the card depicting Jimmie Foxx at the very height of his Hall of Fame career.
