How often do you get a chance to acquire a complete set of one of the most popular pre-war baseball sets from the collection of a former big leaguer who is actually in that set? It's a rhetorical question. Fresh to the hobby from the family of Fred Frankhouse (card #131 in this very set!) comes this extraordinary 1933 Goudey complete set (minus Lajoie, of course). Condition range is wide in this one, with some getting the baseline "AUTHENTIC" designation from PSA and others crossing into high-grade status. Most come crease-free with fairly sharp corners and strong eye appeal.

We had PSA grade 24 out of the 239 cards and here are the results: all four Babe Ruth cards (#'s 53, 144, 149 and 181 came back PSA PR 1; Lou Gehrig's two cards are slabbed #92 PSA AUTHENTIC and #160 PSA PR 1. The other 18 PSA graded cards are: #11 Billy Rogell EX-MT 6, #61 Max Bishop NM 7, #80 Clyde Manion NM 7, #84 Glenn Spencer EX-MT 6, #102 Travis Jackson (HOF) NM 7, #109 Joe Cronin (HOF) EX 5, #110 Goose Goslin (HOF) EX 5, #130 Fred Fitzsimmons VG 3, #133 Fred Lindstrom (HOF) EX-MT 6, #154 Jimmie Foxx (HOF) VG 3, #168 Goose Goslin (HOF) EX 5, #175 Dan Howley NM 7, #187 Heinie Manush (HOF) VG-EX 4, #192 Walter Brown NM 7, #193 Lynford Lary NM 7, #199 Tom Bridges NM 7, #217 Frank Crosetti NM 7, and #223 Dizzy Dean (HOF) EX-MT 6 (MC). Also included is card #64 Burleigh Grimes signed by the Hall of Famer.

A small number of cards are heavily creased and have pencil or ink marks. But the vast majority of this set are mid-grade in the VG-EX/EX range. There are many more grading opportunities in here, making this the perfect opportunity to either acquire a coveted complete set of 1933 Goudey Big League Chewing Gum or upgrade an existing one. As a bonus, this fantastic set comes directly from the great-grandson of Fred Frankhouse, the former pitcher who played 13 MLB seaspns (1927-39), primarily with the Boston Braves where he was an All-Star in 1934. The Grimes autographed card is pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
