The late Swede Berglund was a middleweight boxer in the 1930’s who compiled an overall record of 77-29-14 with 34 knockouts to his credit. This lot features Berglund’s 1932 California State Middleweight Championship boxing belt. The brass belt buckle features a raised flying eagle on the top with the California state bear on the bottom flanking a pair of boxers in the middle with the following words engraved: “CALIF. STATE CHAMPION MIDDLE WEIGHT ‘SWEDE’ BERGLUND.” The belt itself is 26 inches worth of red, white and blue silk stripes. On a felt backing. The belt certainly shows its age with some discoloration and fading as well as a few minor tears.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
