Presented is a vintage Spalding figural baseball trophy. This silver-plated trophy on a wood base features a sculpted figure of a baseball player catching a ball in the outfield. One of the most famous series of trophies produced for Spalding Sporting Goods in the 1920s by the New York City jeweler Dieges & Clust, these trophies were sold through the Spalding catalog around the United States for many years to various baseball clubs and teams. The front base of the trophy is engraved “Spalding Trophy” with a baseball at the center over crossing bats. Engraved on the baseball is “Won By” above a Spalding logo. Who the trophy was won by has been lost to time and faded from the baseball. At the reverse side of the base is an engraved gold metal plaque with the legend “Made by Dieges & Clust”.
