A very expressive portrait photograph of Joe DiMaggio taken in the early part of his Yankees career. Nicknamed “Deadpan Joe” as far back as the minor leagues, DiMaggio was known for his trademark expressionless glare. Though the exact date the photo was taken is not known, this dates back to the early part of his career with the back of the photo carrying later date stamps ranging between September 1938 and June 8, 1941. The photograph measures 5 x 7 and displays toning throughout from age. There are some surface scuffs present in the black background, though the image remains very strong. The reverse carries a full range of written notes, date stamps and adhesive residue. A unique and visually attractive portrait of a young DiMaggio. The photograph his been encapsulated and graded Type 1 Authentic by PSA.
