February 7, 1929 two page handwritten letter on Mount Plymouth Hotel stationary from Connie Mack to Mickey Cochrane concerning the salary Cochrane is to be paid for the upcoming season. In it Mack mentions "a great deal has been said about Cobb and Speaker and the salary they received from our club" and later on adds the interesting statement "Our club has offered you the full limit that we can go and no club outside of the Yankees can afford to pay more and all the two hundred or more players cannot play with the Yankees". Near the end Mack states "$12,000 - is some salary". Letter makes for some very interesting reading. Very strong 9/10 looking vintage black ink Connie Mack signature. Letter in great condition. Includes a letter of provenance from the Cochrane estate.
