One of five trolley car advertising pieces produced by Lucky Strike in 1928, this example features the reigning National League MVP, Paul Waner. “Big Poison” (his brother Lloyd, also featured in the ad campaign, was nicknamed “Little Poison”) had hit a majestic .380 with 130 RBI to lead the Pirates to the 1927 pennant. The Hall of Famer is depicted in a dramatic batting pose, wonderfully staged before the iconic Lucky Strike logo. The piece measures 10”x20” and shows light wear apart from a crease in the lower right corner. The colors are stark and vibrant, made even more impressive by it being professionally matted and framed in UV glass. The piece is in excellent to near mint condition with no restoration, as is common with so many of the Lucky Strike trolley signs that have been offered at auction.
